Since April 1, 2023, I have started doing quarterly reviews and planning my life. You can read my past entries here. Following is the template I use, feel free to tweak it to your preference:
- Review your top 3 aspirations for the past 3 months, did you achieve them? If not, why?
- What were the top 3 big wins of the past 3 months and why?
- What were the 3 biggest challenges, and what did you learn from them?
- What are the top 3 aspirations for the coming 3 months? And what’s the biggest risk they might not happen? And what are you going to do to mitigate that risk?
Note that it doesn’t always have to be three things; you can change the number yourself as your life experiences differ.
Update from my Q4 2024 aspiration
- My 1-year surrender experiment till Sept 2025. (✅10/10) I’m beyond grateful to start this experiment inspired by Michael A. Singer‘s The Surrender Experiment. I feel calmer and more open to the flow of life. My awareness and ability to reflect have improved, making me more empathetic. However, I know there’s still a long way to go as challenges are inevitable.
Practice yoga 1x weeklyDo gym 2-3x weekly. (✅10/10) I adjusted my plan after watching a video by Dr. Huberman and Dr. Stacy Sims, which emphasized the importance of resistance training for women. Building muscle not only helps prevent injuries but also ensures better mobility as we age.- Achieved goals set for my new job. (✅8/10)
- foster good relationships with people, know their personality and motivation
- understand the product and processes
- come up with initiatives and improvements and deliver them effectively
I excelled in (b) and (c) but faced challenges with (a), as I encountered colleagues from diverse upbringings and cultures that were unfamiliar to me. Thanks to The Surrender Experiment, I managed these situations calmly, but I believe there’s still room for improvement.
- Finished Piranha Profit course (✅1/10). I bought several courses and I’m aiming to complete the value investing course and learn how to calculate a company’s intrinsic value.
- Create 2 new Wondefull products. (✅10/10) I created a weekly digital planner with 2 colors (Taupe Dream and Azure Sage) and Widflowers digital stickers.
- [Extra] Write 9 blog articles. (✅1/10) Only did one article which is this.
Top Wins in Last Quarter and Why
- Survived culture shock and communication challenges in a new job. The new company has a top-down management style with more diversity. It’s wasn’t easy for me but I’m glad that I pushed through and managed to build my reputation through excellent work delivery.
- Improvement in interpersonal skills and obstacle handling. As a result of a multitude of challenges at work place, I toughened up and honed my communication skills. Although the culture and career progression worry me, I promise to make the best out of the period when I’m in the company.
- Saw result in Wondefull digital product business. November was the worst sales month but I continued showing up and created weekly digital planners which I’m proud of. I did market research and gained feedback from friends and family to make sure my products stand out, and luckily it showed positive results in December. Story of the day: keep showing up and try different ways till you succeed.
Top Biggest Challenges and What I Learned from Them
- My anxiousness and jealousy. I often find myself comparing my journey to others and believing I could achieve more if I just worked harder. However, life doesn’t work that way. Everyone has their timing to shine. Sometimes, we need to stay low to prepare for our next peak. I’m very grateful to have a partner who reminds me of this from time to time, helping me focus on the blessings I already have.
Top Aspirations for the Next 3 Months
- My 1-year surrender experiment till Sept 2025 (contd).
- Wondefull’s monthly profit reached RM400. I plan to launch 1 new product and rework on 1 existing product to achieve this goal.
- 19% body fat. My strategy includes gym 2-3x weekly and cardio 1x weekly, sleeping at least 7 hours a day, and eating clean.
- Learn how to calculate intrinsic value for a company.
- Get a job that has a good culture, work-life balance, and salary.
- [Extra] Write 2 blog articles.
- [Extra]Learn how to do makeup. After receiving feedback from people around me that I look more tired with makeup, I am determined to improve my makeup skills this quarter.
My Favorite Tool for Quarterly Planning
Inspired by 12 Week Year book, I made a 12-week goal planner Google Sheets template to help with my own time management, reflection, and motivation—and it’s been a game changer! It even comes with a 13-week version for extra flexibility. If you’re into planning and staying organized, you can check it out here or on Etsy! 😊
